Course Summary

Clinical psychology is the section of psychology that is closest to medicine. Therefore, the clinical psychologist is the closest colleague of a doctor and helps him in working with people who have not only mental, but also physical (somatic) diseases. In addition, the clinical psychologist has knowledge of human developmental disorders, from infant age to old age. At the same time, he can work with a wide range of problems: psychological help and counseling for neurotic disorders, people in difficult life situations, patients with impaired mental functions after strokes, families and children with health problems, pregnant women, etc. Specialists with clinical and psychological training are in demand in law enforcement and security forces operating in crisis and extreme circumstances.

In the course of training, medical and psychological disciplines are studied (pathopsychology, neuropsychology, psychosomatics, stress psychology and PTSD, psychology of abnormal development, psychiatry, neurology, internal medicine clinic, forensic psychology and other expertise, psychodiagnostics, principles of psychological counseling and psychotherapy etc.) . The study of all theoretical disciplines is closely combined with practical studies and practical work on the specialty. The learning process includes the practice of students at the clinical bases of the department. For his successful future work, the clinical psychologist learns to understand medical terminology, to possess various psychodiagnostic techniques and methods of psychological correction.
