Course Summary

The architectural specialty was opened in 1989. Since 2011, the bachelors of architecture under the profile "Architectural design" are being trained. Master's program "Architecture of residential and public buildings" was opened in 2011, postgraduate study in the program "Architecture of buildings and structures. Creative concepts of architectural activity "was opened in 2001. Graduates have knowledge in the field of architectural design, formation and research of residential, public and industrial buildings, history and theory of architecture, compositional and computer modeling, architectural management, familiar with modern building materials and structures. Graduates successfully work in the management of architecture and urban planning, design organizations and firms, as well as abroad in Europe, America and Australia. Along the projects of the graduates in Chelyabinsk a number of socially important facilities have been built, significantly improving the architectural appearance of the capital of the Southern Urals, including the reconstruction project of the main building of SUSU. The training is conducted by well-known practicing architects, doctors and candidates of architecture.

The field of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the bachelor's program includes:

  • research and design (creation, transformation, preservation, adaptation, use) of a harmonious, comfortable and safe artificial environment and its components, control of project implementation;
  • performing communicative and intermediary functions to explain and promote design decisions in the communication process between the customer, construction contractor, local community and stakeholders;
  • participation in the management of the design process, the organization of the project company, the administration of the architectural and design industry and the process of creating an artificial habitat at local and regional levels;
  • theoretical analysis, critical analysis and evaluation of architecture as a sphere of knowledge and industry from the standpoint of its prerequisites, methods, results and consequences, examination of project solutions;
  • architectural pedagogy, the realization of the objectives of architectural education.

The objects of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the bachelor's program are the artificial material-spatial environment of the life activity of a person and society with its components (populated areas, urban environment, buildings, structures and their complexes with life support systems, security, landscapes) and the processes of its modeling, creation and use of man and society.
