HSE’s Intensive Summer Language School is a 10-week-long programme open to intermediate and advanced speakers of Russian. The programme is made up of 200 academic hours (20hrs/week) and will be held June 6 - August 12, 2016. https://www.hse.ru/en/rfl/intensive Levels: 1. Intermediate-Low 2. Intermediate-High 3. Programme details: Classes: 20 hours per week Tutors in the dorm: 10 hours per week Students in the programme live in HSE dormitories in central Moscow with Russian roommates. Language tutors also live at the dormitories and are available to help with homework. They are connected with their Russian peers, who will show them around HSE, help them get around during orientation week, give advice on life in Moscow, and help organize more informal social events and activities. Programme cost includes tuition, dormitory accomоdation, tutor assistance, visa processing, airport transfers (arriving and departing). Russian language electives are offered for advanced speakers: Video course in Russian (Видеокурс русского языка) — Each class is based on one video clip (short movie, documentary, advertisement, etc.), which students watch, discuss, use to learn new vocabulary, and write a short essay on. The class is offered for three levels, from mid-intermediate to mid-advanced. Reading in Russian (Чтение) — Each class is based on a text in authentic or simplified Russian, by either classical or contemporary Russian authors. Students read the texts for homework and then summarize and discuss them in class, working on new vocabulary and later completing writing assignments. The class is offered for three levels, for mid-intermediate to mid-advanced. Russian Phonetics and Intonation (Фонетика и интонация) — This course focuses exclusively on Russian pronunciation and is offered for three levels, from mid-intermediate to mid-advanced. Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10:00-15:30. Additional activities On weekends, tutors organize excursions and cultural tours (cost of entrance tickets, museum tours, etc. is not included in programme cost). In addition to the traditional cultural tours – Red Square and Kremlin, Tretyakov Gallery, Abramtsevo Estate, the programme offers a “social” tour to an unconventional country foster home for Russian orphans. There is a reading in English to precede each tour for those who wish to expand their knowledge ahead of the event. Duration and cost: Students may also enroll in the programme for a period of four weeks, six weeks, or eight weeks. The full 10-week-long programme (June 6 - August 12) is 4,000 US dollars (includes tuition, dorm, visa support, and airport transfer).
